Since arriving on the scene in 2003 with a number of award winning music videos for musicians including Morningwood, Stellastarr*, Five O’Clock Heroes, Aberdeen City and actor/comedian Jamie Kennedy, Peter and Luke McCoubrey have emerged as filmmakers of unique vision and extraordinary talent.  Their video for the Kidz Bop version of Kelly Clarkson’s crossover hit Since U Been Gone, was viral success spreading across music blogs like wildfire, receiving coverage in The New York Times as well as making in onto Pitchfork Media’s top 100 videos of all time.  In addition, their videos have garnered awards and accolades from MTV, FUSE, and Entertainment Weekly. 

In 2007 Peter and Luke co-directed a MTV series titled The Gamekillers, with once again Luke serving as the cinematographer and Peter as one of the editors. The series the was the highest rated program in that timeslot for MTV’s target demographic and was the recipient of the “Bronze Lion” at The Cannes Lions 2008 and well as winner at the One Show awards.

The brothers completed a short film for Adidas through 180LA titled The Left Right Project for an online campaign featuring a series of international short films based around a specific sneaker model. In their film they documented an artist collective from each coast (NY’s Surface to Air and SF’s Upper Playground) that were given a 15’ long Adidas Superstar sneaker as a canvas to paint on, which led to a showdown of both shoes at Venice Beach, CA.

The bros traveled around the world capturing the success stories of various iPhone app developer’s to create a film for Apple’s 2009 WWDC keynote presentation. They finished up 2009 with two commercial spots for McDonald’s and kickstarted 2010 with a series of spots for LG with BBH Shanghai and Singapore.

They directed the Madden NFL 2011 campaign for the Playstation 3 with the agency Heat out of San Francisco. The campaign consisted of TV and Theatrically released spots and webisodes for EA Sports titled “Madden to the People”.  

Luke recently acted as cinematographer for The Legend of Hallowdega a short film directed by filmmaking legend and Monty Python member Terry Gilliam (Time Bandits, Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King, 12 Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Brothers Grimm, Tideland, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus).

The brothers have been involved in virtually every aspect of the content creative process from conception to completion. In this ever-evolving world of digital media, their various skills in all aspects of the form often position them as a “one stop shop” for many projects. Luke has also become a highly sought after cinematographer in his own right; by the age of 23 he had shot his first million dollar commercial campaign. 

The breadth and quality of their work is evident in the roster of clients and projects, which include: RCA Records, Capitol Records, Warner Music Group, LG, McDonald’s, Apple, Rayban, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Grey Goose, American Express, Nike, Ford, ESPN, MTV, VH1, The N, Gillette, Bing, EA Sports and AXE.
